Hi all,

I finally got the final piece to my new rig (4gb of (2x2gb) pc6400 OCZ).

So i was putting it all together and o noes i dont have a lga775 bracket for my mobo (gigabyte 965P-DQ6). So i look around my house and cannabilise a number of other pcs in a desperate attempt to find somthing that would allow me to install my heatsink off my previous system (x2 4400 stock cooler :p ).

With no luck I deside to do this...

To be safe ive underclocked it to 1.2ghz @ 1 volt (quad core q6600).
CPU temps are around 40 to 50c, but everest says the core temps are around 50 to 60, which temp should i go by for safety?

I've ordered a tuniq tower which should come tomorow :) Hopefully the heatsink wont fall off before then

hehe, it is vertical :S lol

and its being held on with decorative ribbon :D

The first reading is about 40 to 50, thats the cpu temp, but the cores (1 through 4) are about 50 to 60.

If the worst happens the cpu shuts itself off when temperature exceeds a certain threshold right?

Cheers.

Got my tuniq tower today, best heatsink ive ever had. Ambient room temp is about 24c, processor idle is 29c.

This heatsink was huge and was worried bout it not fitting on my board (965p-dq6) after hearing people talk about having to remove the crazy cool heatsinks from the back of the board. Mine fitted fine though, had to omit the springs.
