Am going be builting a new HTPC soon and i may not be fitting a DVD-rom or blu-ray drive in it to start of with...

What options are available to be able to install window 7 without using a DVD-Rom drive ?

(I can use my gaming PC that has a DVD-rom to copy files to a USB stick or harddrive if needed..)

Windows 7 USB Install tool. :)

Works a treat. I used it on my netbook. Use ImgBurn to make a copy of your Windows 7 disc and make an ISO. Install the USB tool and point it to the ISO you made from your Windows 7 disc. The tool will do its stuff and as long as your usb stick is 4GB+ then you'll be able to install Windows from your USB stick. :)

Thanks Guys.....:)

As this new HTPC case i ordered (silverstone GD02MT) only takes a slim dvd-rom drive and i don't have one..
And am thinking of leaving it a while to workout out if i want spend out the extra cash on buying a slim blu-ray drive..

You could always buy an external USB DVD drive. :) I now have one for my netbook. I think quite a few people are going for computers like that nowadays.

120mm max height cpu cooler without slim DVD-drive fitted
