Hello,
Looking to get into 4k video editing and need to update my pc to do so. I will purchase a 4k monitor separate, just looking for a base unit.

Currently use a FX 4300 with 8gb ram - which works on proxy editing in Premier, but is slow. Would an update to a 8 core FX cpu and an extra 8gm ddr ram be a helpful upgrade? or would i just be wasing money? and a new board/cpu/ram bundle be my best best?

Ideally I would like to keep the cost under 800 - any experts have a suggestion?
thanks

Would an update to a 8 core FX cpu
Those "fail"dozers are good for consuming power and turning it to heat.

Also increased power consumption might be too much for old PSU if it was cheap model.

So no sense in mediocre already five years ago tech.
Ryzen is way better and offers actually eight cores instead of four "modules" of weak core and half of weak core.
That budget would also easily fit good PSU to make sure good hardware won't get tortured by old PSU.

And in case of using integrated GPU you'll need a separate card because of Ryzen not having integrated GPU.
But (PC) hardware zone is better for iths.
