Hi all,

I need a firewall that is good..

I can't use Zone alarm as it's freezing my explorer all the time and when i take it off the explorer is ok.

So my question to you is is there another firewall which is just as good..

I'm on Vista 32 bit and my explorer is firefox..

what the free version or retail?

i only need firewall as i have avast can you disable the virus protection

yes well i want a more safer one so i can block programs and choose what to let in and out

Since you're using Windows Vista, the built in firewall should be absolutely fine. It is a two-way firewall so it monitors inbound as well as outbound traffic. Inbound is turned on by default and outbound is restricted for services. If you would like to completely block outgoing traffic including applications, you will need to manually do this. This can be done by typing "wf.msc" into the start menu search bar which then brings up the advanced properties for the Windows Firewall. After you have blocked all outbound traffic, you must set-up exceptions for any programs that require internet access. It should be rather self-explanatory.
