I have done a search and read a few threads but it still doesn't really answer my questions.

I want a rear paddock stand for my bike (2008 Daytona 675), I don't want an Abba stand so please don't recommend that. I want to use a rear stand with bobbins. The stand will be used for chain maintenance etc. and storing the bike.

depending on cost of the rear I may also get a front stand, something like this as its cheap: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400523019226?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

looking at these 2 stands on ebay:

which is best? with the R&G are you just paying extra for the name or is it really that much better than the cheap one?

or do you recommend a different make of paddock stand?

so really no point in spending the extra then? I guess they all do the same job, I just don't want something that will fall apart after a year or so! ?

I have some cheap ones, they have lasted me years, the paint has flaked off in places but still work fine

the more expensive ones might be sturdier idk,but they seem overpriced to me? I mean just look at r&g bar end and cotton reel prices

I've had a set of the alloy stands for years and they've been fine. They came from a local bike shop, and I think they were cheaper than that.

I know you said you didn't want one, but if you ever need to do any work on the forks or head bearings etc. then an Abba stand is far more versatile.

I'd actually cry if I had spent that much on my paddock stand(s). The only time I'd spend a fair bit is if I bought an ABBA stand but other than that I wouldn't spend too much Money Money Money.

I had the R&G rear one but found the handle wasn't long enough to generate sufficient leverage for getting the bike up.

I do however still use the R&G front one, as I prefer the type of mount that fits in the holes under the fork leg :)

I have a couple one normal size and one large but for swing arm removal I borrowed a friends abba stand three years ago I must remember to give it back :D

The rear is a large paddock stand because zx12r number plate tries to slice your knuckles in two when lowering.

Thanks for the advice. After reading reviews etc. I have gone for Oxford premium rear paddock stand at £56.99

Next question, what cotton reels/bobbins shall I go for?

Again the R&G look very good but are £19.99, where as you can get others for £10

sorry to bump an old thread

im after a stand for my hornet 2006

only for oiling the chain and cleaning so not going to get an Abba Stand

would this be ok: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Pro...791847?hash=item5d52201167:g:KdoAAOSw7aBVEyCP

i think the hornet doesn't have holes for read bobbins so think i need the normal cup type connector?

I had this one when I lived in the UK and it served me well:

Yep, those are fine for Hornets as it just cups the swingarm and lifts like that.

Not the greatest quality, but they do the job.

If you are going to keep up biking, then it's worth getting an abba stand. You buy the thing for £100 or so, then you can buy adapters (which work really nicely with the Hornet) for most bikes.

Same. Got rid of mine recently.

thanks guys

got the biketek one.

Got the bike tek one today. Very fast delivery

Is it normal to be absolutely terrified when using it ?

Tried to do it alone but gave in, will wait till my brother is home to help me lol

Got the cups version due to the hornet not having bobbins holes.
