Hi all,

Random question...I just bought a Coolermaster vertical GPU mount to go into my white case (Lian Li OL11 Dynamic XL), so ideally i'd get the bracket painted!

Does anyone have experience of painting already (black painted) metals white and knows of a decent paint? Happy to do spray can or brush.

Some of the ones I looked at look to be fairly flammable which sounds a bad idea.

Many thanks!

*flammable when wet/flammable propellant. You shouldn't be smoking with a rattle can in hand but you still probably wouldn't catch fire :p

I'll defer to case modding experts but I'd imagine automotive metal primer and spray paint would be the most readily available

I used a acrylic based white for my wifes build:

Before:

After:

I used the same acrylic white and purple on everything :D Memory, case, cables you name it! It got sprayed!

ok so this is the white I used Plastikote Super White, I used it because I already had a can laying about :) came out really nice though especially the memory which was directly onto sanded black paint over metal:

And the purple is Kobra Purple:

The white is a lot better than the purple and can be sprayed on basically anything and will stick and be durable, purple not so much its durable enough but doesn't adhere quite as well as the white so can get scratched. White takes about 6 hours to dry, purple is dry in about 30 mins.

Also now you have seen how it is done that gpu, whatever it is, has to go white!

Will do! Guess I need to make sure the bracket works first before I start painting :)

Also putting the all white Arctic 34 Esports Duo cooler in, mainly for aesthetics, and also because my Noctua U14s is literally touching the side glass panel, which makes me uneasy!

I gave the wifes a custom loop and RBG in the end. Still the whole build was only £400 so all in all it was a bargain. I just sprayed even all of that stuff white/purple. :D Would recommend fitting it first though :D

haha can't go wrong with white and purple. Decided to give water cooling a miss for now, it was such a nightmare wiring in the 10 RGB case fans as it is, i daren't take the back off the computer until i replace everything down the line.

I do anticipate a fancy 3080 gcard going in at some point, hence the vertical mount, my current 1080ti looks better as it is really.

She likes it, my space is black/blue so she wanted her theme for her end of the office. So purple white it was she loves her little machine and I didn't think I would like a white build but I do:

Super that weird that I Googled "spray painting vertical gpu mount" just now and this came up as I'm looking to spray the same GPU mount white as well lol.

That paint's out of stock but the finish looks superb on what you've done, did you do one or a couple of coats?

Thanks matey.

So all i did with the memory which was black painted metal was a light sanding and then tack cloth, then a light dusting and about 5 mins later layed down a thick coat, no primer just straight down. onto plastic I just went straight in with the spray and it was a couple of coats. This white I think you can also get on amazon if you grab the product code :) Does come out really nicely on pretty much any surface.

Thanks man, really appreciate it, never sprayed anything before so it's going to be an interesting experience... Lol

Hi again! Got my vertical GPU bracket in and new CPU cooler on, this is before any painting mind you, although don't think it looks too bad as is.

I will probably look for fancier graphics card next time :p
