what parts of my spec would u upgrade,

I was thinking , since im selling my laptop. i might upgrade my pc , but it would be my last upgrade for a few years , since after august ill be spending my money on driving lessons/car etc. if i do upgrade something ill be selling my old stuff due to i will need the money at some point.

so id like it to be able to run games comming out in the next like 2 years or something

atm i have .

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600
ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB
DFI Lan Party DK X38-T2R mobo
( Absolutely hate this motherboard, since the northbridge cooler is massive , i need to use stock cooler or incorrectly install good ones)
4 X 1GB sticks OCZ platinum XTC ram . DDR2 800mhz PC2-6400

everythnig else i have id be keeping , but if i do upgrade the mobo id need a new cooler.

I dont know the max budget yet but just say what you would get and id appreciate it . just aslong as it doesnt cost thounsands lol

Is it overclocked, if so, how far. What cpu cooler are you using. What psu, and what case.

Can't recommend without knowing the entire system.

it isnt overclocked , i did try it about a year ago but my mobo is a pain in the boobies. and im having to use my stock cooler due to my artic freezer 7 plastic push pin/feet things are all bent .

but when i was using that cooler i couldnt install it properly cus it was pushing against the northbridge cooler.

psu is fairly new , which ill be keeping . its the Hi-power 800w .

case : Coolermaster storm scout :)

You have boobies? I'll come round and overclock it myself :p

An answer to your question is: nothing at the moment. a 512mb 4870 is still a good card and I don't think you would see much benefit in upgrading when you consider the cost. Same goes for the CPU

The only upgrade really that you could make where you'd notice a difference is the hard drive. If you don't already have one you should get an OCZ Vertex SSD. The access times on these things are unreal. It'll make everything load up so swiftly. Look it up but your entire system is bottle necked by your hard drive. It'll give it that extra zip you're looking for but it'll also cost you a bit. The size of the drives are small but you could just throw your os on the vertex, and use your current hdd for all of your storage.
