Ok.. so, at some point, I will be doing a new build with SB, or upgrading my current build (i7 920 - c0) to get better graphics...
Now, as the next computer I build will probably most likely be the last that I can convince my parents to fund, I will have to most likely go by their few restrictions... which basically means I must get an nVidia graphics card, rather than ATI.... This isn't really a fanboy thing, it's more of a weird brand loyalty thing my parents are having and however many benchmarks and price comparisons I may show them I'm not going to change their mind... so whilst I would happily go for whichever, as they're funding it, I'm not going to argue too much. - Hence the nVidia choice.
Now, I use my computer for a reasonable amount of gaming, however I don't actually buy that many games, and at the moment the only games I really play are BOps/MW2 and F1 2010. However, I do like to get a couple of new games every year and like to be able to play them at reasonable settings... therefore am looking to get a reasonably good graphics card that will last a few years.
At the moment, chances are I'm looking at a 570 of some kind, or if it comes out in the future maybe a 560.
However, the real question I guess is related to Motherboards... I'm wondering whether to buy a 570 and upgrade to SLI in a few years time (when games become more advanced) or, in a couple of years time just upgrade to whatever the equivalent kind of graphics card is at that time, and try and sell off the 570 and make back a bit of money.
I know obviously this is a bit of a future prediction kind of idea, and nobody can be sure... however if it was your decision to make what would you do?
The real reason behind this is, if I choose to go SLI I'll have to get an SLI compatible MoBo, whereas if I just look to get a single card MoBo I could probably save a few pounds whilst I'm here which could possibly make the difference between a 560 and 570 (if it's after the 560 is out)....
If anyone cares/ it makes a difference, monitors will be a 19" on VGA (possibly upgraded/I'll just get an adaptor) and a 23" on DVI-D.
