Hi,

I'm currently gaming on an i7-4820k @4.5 GHz, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, Avexir 16gb DDR3 1600 MHz, 2 x R9 290 and an 850 Evo SSD and a couple of WD Blacks for storing gamings.

With the latest games I'm starting to struggle playing them set to high graphics at 1980x1080. Just wanted to double check before i go i buy something. What would be the most beneficial to improve gaming? I am things my GPUs could do with being replaced.

I can't see how a pc with those specs would struggle with high graphics at 1080p. It should blitz any game at that res. Have you checked that both gpu's are actually working or could it be a crossfire bug? Have you tired a single card by itself? Maybe replace the pair of cards you have for a powerful single card instead. At the moment AMD still has nothing that is faster so you are stuck with Nvidia if you want a new card.

Assuming that crossfire is causing performance issues then the only upgrade would be a single card - 1070 / 1080 or 1080TI ( if you are rolling in cash ! )

Definitely need to change gpus, just moved from a 295x2 to a 980ti, although fps isnt as high it feels so much better. And if the game doesnt do cf then the single gpu is working so much better.

I'm only expecting enough fps for no stuttering so somewhere around 60fps. I have afterburner running on my pc and can see that they both running. The worst performance i get is on Witcher 3, The Division and Ghost Recon (which is a mess for most people from the looks of it). Games just feel a bit jumpy at times. Luckily a play a lot of FM. May try and do what Brizzles said and save my pennies and upgrade to if 1080 or something along those lines when i can afford to.

That was my 295x2 issues just didnt feel right despite the fps being fine. Only silky smooth game ive played on the 295x2 was gears of war and bf1. The 980ti feels better but not really a upgrade. Will move to 1080 or ti when funds allow.

In BF1 i have things on the screen just disappear in the menus.
