I buy Custom PC and PC gamer.. However, I'm getting fedup with both really.

Custom PC is ok, but i'd like something with a little more "hands on"; things to do and try.. more windows related rather than just hardware, utilities etc ..

I've looked at PC Zone and PC format but they're both a joke really.

What do you read and why?

None, just use the web instead... no extra costs.. :D

Plenty of websites around that cover all the same things that mags do.

Yeah used to buy PCFormat monthly, mainly for hardware reviews, but soon got bored and found that whichever mag you buy its always way out of date and old news by the time you read it compared to keeping an eye on the web.

PC Plus used to be better than most for software related issues but I haven't looked at it in a couple of years so I don't know if that is still the case.

In fact I haven't bought a PC magazine at all in a couple of years but I used to get a choice of PC Zone, PC Plus or PC Format. :)

I subscribe to CustomPC as i believe that at the moment it's about the only one worth buying. I do buy MicroMart but that's seems to be going downhill since Dennis publishing took over. They had a review in there about motherboards last week and the bloke who did it said the DS3P rev 3.3 is a new revision of the DS3. Wrong. Two completely different motherboards. He also said it did'nt have raid or firewire and also got the SB chip wrong.

I used to subscribe to Computer Shopper and Buyer, PCPro and PCFormat but i got rid of them as the first three are basically the same and have more ads than editorial and OCFormat went downhill after the revamp.

Yeah, I subscribe to Custom PC magazine as well. I know you can get most/all the same information online but I just like having something to read whilst commuting on the bus.

Custom PC every month.

Used to read PC Format back in 1996 until 2002, Now its wafer fin and over priced. Still got all my old PC Format Magazines.

Custom pc is a very good funny read, i especially like the reviews and main reason i buy magazines is for the reader questions (dont ask) i like reading them ^^

I subscribe to Custom PC - it's the only decent read, that is very much hardware focused. Some of the articles are very useful to me as a noob too.

I have bought the last two issues of PC Gamer, and haven't been very impressed. I think I'll look for online game reviews from now on - can anyone recommend any please?

Russ.

Internet is the best. By the time the magazine is out on the shelf its out of date. I found that and decided to stop buying as it was a waste of money. All the reviews, guides and articles can be found free online.

I dont read any. they are all behind the times and very biased in what they review and the scores they give. Same for audio/home cinema mags as well. i just dont bother with them any more.

Same, I don't read any mags nowadays. Not computing related anyhow, got guitar mags in the lav :D

The internet is available to me at home and work, so seems pointless to buy any magazines.

Years ago I used to read PCPlus and PCFormat but as others have said I found that the I could find the same info for free on the web so eventually stopped buying them.

Every now and again I may sneak a peak at PC Zone in WHSmiths just to get a feel for what new games are out.

I posted something similar a while back asking about gaming mags...

I am currently in the middle of a 6 month Custom PC subscription and really like the mag. I know all that business about getting just as good if not better on the web, but it is really good sometimes just to escape with a hands-on read. When we stay at my girlfriend's mum's in the middle of nowhere in Wales for the weekend, it's good to escape with then too.

She doesn't have a PC.

PC Format's ok but I read Micro Mart coz it cheap. As mentioned above, the Internet's the best but you can't take a PC in to the loo!!! (unless you've got a laptop but then thats just gross!!) :D
