I haven't bothered much with games lately. However got a X-Box 360 a year ago and have been playing some games on it.

recently went back to my PC and find that with FEAR, Quake iv, Chronicles of Riddick performance is poor and games are a bit jerky with lots of jaggies - by comparison 360 is much smoother. Only prob is i much prefer mouse/keyboard to joypad.

My current spec is -:

NEC 20wgx2 Monitor
AMD Athlon 2600XP
Radeon 9800 pro
1.5 GB RAM

I know this is a bit long in the tooth but just wondering what spec would i need to match performance of XBox?

core 2 duo @ 3 ghz
2gb ram
Something near a 1900xt for gfx

C2D yes, 3 ghz NO, a off the shelf 6300 @ 1.8 ghz will yield probably the same.
Would agree on X1900 though, might even be close to a good x1800

yeah, basicly for the same performance it would be an X1800XT-X1900xt (somwhere in between), 2gb of ram and a C2D 2ghz or something, thats for similar performance. But really its only got 512mb of ram, but its a lot better than on a pc because it has no background apps, no OS etc.

Let's see... Using Oblivion as a benchmark we can see it uses 1280x720 resolution, 2xAA and no anisotropic filtering with no mods and much lower settings than the PC version.

I should think that any old dual-core CPU and a 7600GT or something matches it just fine. ;)
