Hi, im looking to get a 2tb M.2 and a PCI adapter card for it to run in my current old pc (which is being updated later this year this is a temp fix)

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £188.69 (includes delivery: £8.70)

My MOBO is a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H

Its PCI Express 3.0 and taken of Gigabytes website the stats on the slots is:

  • 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
(The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
    * For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
    * The PCI Express x16 slot supports up to PCI Express 2.0 standard when an Intel 32nm (Sandy Bridge) CPU is installed.
  • 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)
    * The PCIEX4 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX1_2/3 slots. The PCIEX1_2/3 slots will become unavailable when a PCIe x4 expansion card is installed.
  • 3 x PCI Express x1 slots
(PCIEX4 and PCIEX1 slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
  • 2 x PCI slots
Can someone tell me what pci adapter i need to get for the m.2. I know it wont run at full speed but aslong as it works as fast it can on that mobo at the moment thats ok for now as there basically the same price as a normal SSD 2TB.

Thanks, I didnt realise the smaller cards (as in not using all the connectors for the larger slot) would work in the x16 slot . I assumed you would need a card that fills the slot, live and learn!
