What PCI e GFX for £40 ?

It's a shame really, they are were great great cards but now to be wrote off due to SM3.0 requirements :(.

yeah finally they can be written off. To be fair my mate had his like FOREVER and he just replaced it there. One of my other mates is still running his happily but since he has a 360 he played Bioshock on that :p

I have mine for about 15 months, was a great card, it ran F.E.A.R on fairly high settings aswell, and Oblivion, was very impressed.

Never played Oblivion on SM2.0 ever....what was it like?

Its the same just you dont get HDR, I was playing it at 1280x1024, no AA, everything max, and it was playable, I added AA and it started to get pretty choppy, still could have coped tho. This was with 1gb ram and a 3700+ AMD at 2.8Ghz.

For me, it seems the ATi cards do better at low frame rates than NV, I mean with my X800 and HD2900XT, frame rates such as 25-35 fps is more tolerable than I found it to be with my 8800GTS I had.

When the 6800 were out first I renember people saying sm3.0 is no biggy: go for ati, I'm glad I ignored those people tbh, I'd be mad if I was ''forced'' to upgrade a card because I can't run a game even on lowest settings.

Well for most of the X800's great lifetime they were the best buy, they were faster than the 6800's and were in most games, the 6800's won in Open GL mainly.

< Too old to be forced into buying a game lol, Bioshock very pretty but seems a lot of folk flew through it and it has low or no replay value. Paper Mario F.T.W ! and not a sniff of SM 3 lol

seriously he didn't say what the requirements were beyond budget, X1800 XL will "do" SM 3
