What performance can I expect out of a E2140

Just won a new E2140 from a auction site, and was just wondering what I will be able to get out of it using the stock fan and will it be as fast as my old opty 185? Its going into a abit ip35 board

I've been playing with a E1200 (same chip less cache) in a G31 Gigabyte board I picked up cheap. Didn't expect much but currently at 3.2Ghz (from 1.6) at 400FSB Ram at 800Mhz

Took a little bump in volts 1.325 >1.4 and a couple of minor bios tweaks.

Temps hit 65C with the stock slim all alloy cooler with Prime... but in standard used rare to see about 40C

The cache on the e1200 holds it back but the e2140 should be good for similar

Performance wise ... the stock E2140 is prob similar to an opty170 with an OC... a lot lot faster

Edit:
PS does 2.66Ghz (FSB 1333) at stock volts

Nice, seems abit wicked to put it in a system thats going mainly be using the net and a odd bit of nework gaming. Now I need to find some dirt cheap 2nd hand 2gb ddr2 mem, or use 4gb of the mem in my main system, but I dont really want start messing my main system about.

I got 3200mhz out of mine:) I dunno what the fsblimit of a ds3r is but i might try and push it a bit farther.

cracking little CPU should hit 3ghz at least.. if it runs a bit warm spend £15 and buy yourself an AC7 should be plenty for one of these

Should do. But it's always advised to buy matched sets of ram.

Ive just order 2x 512mb corsair xms2, I just hope dirt, grid and c&c3 will run ok??

Plus hopefully I should be able to stick 2 more 512mb in it and I will still be able to oc. Cos I have the abit ip35 pro in my main sys and thats running 8gb and Ive got that clocked at 400x9 (3600), so hopefully the non pro version will clock as well with all the slots used.

Thank for all your help guys, I will let you know how the build goes. 1 more question, in the mb manual it says I can use either a 4 or 8pin plug in the board but its best 8pin plug, so any of u guys use a 4 pin plug in a 8pin socketon the motherboard and if so is the system stable. The reason I ask is cos Im going to be using a 3yr old enermax 600watt psu that has only got the 4pin 12v plug,

Ok guys, a update and a few questions. The built went very smoothly and everything booted correctly with everything in place first time.

Ive overclocked it to 2.4 with a idel temp of 38c and 65-70c load, that ok?? remember its using the stock heatsink/fan and its in a coolermaster wavemaster case.

The 1m superpi seem a tad low tho at 25secs?? my [email protected] does it in 12ses

the cpu is it 8x300, mem is running at 375 and 1.280v is going though the cpu. Just running orthos now and been running for just over 1hr and no fails yet, temp is at 65-66c.

Orthos been running for just over 3hrs now and still going strong, and temp is still 65c, last night I ran orthos for a few mins to see how hot it got and it went up to 71c then after a few mins it slolwly went down to 68c. I guess thats the paste settling in?

Dont really want to go any higher cos load temps r getting pretty toasty at 65c. but how much faster is this running at 2.4 to my opty 185 at 2.8, like its cut a good 5secs off my opty in the 1m superpi? Opty was 30-32secs and the e2140 is 25secs??
