What performance gains from new series of cards

I was wondering what kind of performance gains have we seen over the last few generations of cards.

From nvidia 6xxx series to 7xxx series, what kind of percentile increase in performance did we see for example. Then what about from 9xxx series to 2xx series?

Are there any predicions/benchmarks for the next series of cards yet?

You're asking for benchmarks of 6870's?
And the 5870 performs around the same as a 4870x2, it performs better when it's overclocked. In 9.12 it should perform even better.
 
No I am wondering what kind of average performance gains we see each time a new generation of cards is released. So from the 9800 to the equivalent 2xx series card for example.

And so you are saying from the 4870 to the 5870 is like an 70% increase or something? Crossfire doesn't get near to double the performance right?
