Hello all, i have a old power supply that has been going for nearly 10 years, hes an old man now and whines all the time, i want a brand new one that will do the job for future upgrades to come, first upgrade will be a new graphics card. If anyone can recommend and point me in the right direction of a new power supply that would be fantastic, thank you.

Current specs :-
i9 9900k
32gb ram
AMD vega 64

Something I learnt recently which may help you. I never really understood the PSU Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum thing. It's how efficient they are with power. So in an extreme silly example, with a cheap PSU with 50% efficieny, your Computer could ask the PSU for 500Watts, but the PSU is so inefficient that it draws 1000Watts from the mains, the rest is lost in heat. Therefore costing you more dosh. The theory therefore is that the higher the efficiency, the PSU may actually pay for itself over a cheaper model. So at the other end in an extreme example, you have a Titanium PSU with say 90% efficieny, the computer asks for 500Watts, the PSU draws 560Watts from the mains.

TIL; I always assumed that it referred to output, so for example a 750W PSU that's 80% efficient would only potentially be able to output 600W (80% of 750W) but based on this it will output 750W but need to draw in 900'ish to output it.

Interesting stuff, thanks for posting.

My EVGA has proved reliable and quiet thus far, the Corsair in my sons Ryzen build is performing equally as well both brands tend to have decent warranties.
