My nan has asked me to recommend her a new printer but I have got no clue, and all of the ones I seem to look at all have bad reviews (as well as good ones), the bad reviews always say they use lots of ink, really noisy and produce poor photo prints etc etc.

She wants to be able to have the memory card slot so she can put her camera's SD card in and print directly from that and I think she would like the copier option too.

Can anyone help recommend a good printer?

hp have a nice range of printers called the photosmart series. There good for printing photos and have an individual tray for photo images. You can also get them with CD printer attatchments, scanners, copiers and so forth, most also come with ports so you can print from memory stick and SD cards etc. However, there ink is quite expensive (vivera ink) so take this into account.

no. vivera inks are pricey. they use four cartridges - main black around 800 pages is around £40 whilst colour catrridges and photo black are around £20 each (xl sizes all produce 800 pages as stated by hp, dont bother with smaller cartridges there even mnmore expensive)

Canon PIXMA Range.

Canon PIXMA iP3600 about £58, but you can get compatible ink cartridge's full set £14.99. l'm using the Canon PIXMA iP4300 with compatible ink cartridge's and have had no problem's at all, printer is 2yrs old now
and l do a lot of printing, photo's, etc.

Can't fault Cannon printer's one little bit, print qualty is very good even with compatible's. :)

Thanks for the reply. That printer looks the ticket except it doesn't have a slot for her SD card :(

Just get a cheap and cheerful printer for Docs etc. and print your photo's at ASDA etc. Great quality prints that work out cheaper than doing it yourself ;)
