How unrecoverable do you want it to be? Try DBAN if you're paranoid, else just format it in Windows (assuming it's a second drive) if it doesn't matter.

Disconnect all other drives when running something like DBAN though just in case!

Eraser is fine if you are doing it from Windows.

DBAN works great if you want military spec, but takes ages. Free version of Killdisk (but not as powerful) does an adequate job.
