Pardon me? I have no idea what you're trying to say. You want to enter details into the CPU detector program before you install it? CPU-Z doesn't install.

I think he means just a program e.g. *EVEREST* which reads your cpu (Make and model)

Surely thats what the program is designed to do for you, and cpu-z is about the best. Other than that there is central brain identifier which gives quite a bit of info.

maybe he means to see what the CPU is from the codes on the chip?

dunno if it says the cpu on the cpu itself ;P

Maybe, but i am sure one of use here would be able to tell what it was from the codes on the chip fairly easily. So they could simply post them on here.
