what projector???

im looking to spend around £1400 on a projector and i was wondering what would be the best for that sort of price?

currently looking at
Themescene HD72 Projector
Hitachi pj-tx300
Panasonic pt-ae900

mainly going to use it to watch films on

Any chance of getting somewhere to check them out in person? That's the best bet. Some people are adversely affected by the DLP "rainbow" effect on some older DLP projectors with slower colour wheels... but a lot of DLP projectors tend to have better contrast and truer blacks than similarly priced LCD models. But when it comes down to it, it's what your eye prefers, and not everybody likes exactly the same.

A few months down the line and that budget will pull in a Panny PT-AE1000.

Id see if i could wait if thats the budget. The 1000 looks to be a very nice little unit.

Uses the newer Darkchip3 DLP, loads of contrast. Just make sure you're not sensitive to the rainbow effect.
