Hello,

Can I ask some advice about my psu?
I currently have:

Q6700 @ 3.2ghz 1.4v ( I think)
Asus P5B Deluxe
4 DDr2 sticks ddr800
Soundblaster Audigy 2
GTX 260 216sp SSC (overclocked) edition
6 hdd's
dvd drive
4 fans
5 usb devices
Akasa Powerplus 550w (630 watts peak) ( while a good (server) psu, it has too much power on the cpu rails, being designed for quad xeon pc's, lacks enough juice on the pcie plugs I think):

12V1 - 13A - CPU1 - First 4-pins on the 8-pin EPS12V connector
12V2 - 18A - CPU2 - Last 4-pins on the EPS12V, and the SATA cables
12V3 - 16A - 24-pin connector, PCIe connectors, and Super Micro AGP connector
12V4 - 8A - All the 4-pin molex connectors

It's now sold under the akasa IQ name I think:

My pc is stable in 90% of all games, GTA IV, Supcom, Civ5, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, CoD games, Source games, Bioshock 1&2, Anno1404, BFBC2, and well erm any game I regularly played except the below:

However, I get reboots after 30-90 minutes of gameplay in some games:
Crysis
Gears of War
Crysis Warhead

Temps are fine etc...

Now today I got an Asus Matrix GTX 285 for free from my dad, put it in and my pc reboots at minor 3d apps/stress, so I think I need a new psu, I don't have an 8 pin pci-e plug on mine ( simply just plugged in both 6 pin plugs and left 2 pins unplugged) and the 6 pcie plugs share a 12v line with the 24 pin mobo plug, in total only 16 or 18 amps there :(. Apparently a gtx 285 draws 180-280ish watts according to various sources so I think my psu is simply not coping, what do you think? My psu is 4 years old now I think so might not even be performing to specs anyhow.

Gtx260 back in and it's fine in 90% of all games...

What psu do you guys recommend to me, how much do I need ? According to psu calc I need 580 watts min at 90% load 643 watts recommended.

Would a Corsair 750w modular be fine ? Any other recommendations ( cheaper perhaps ? not essential but I've been out of touch, any ''good'' modular 700-800 ish watt psu's out there ?

I would want a silent, well performing and long lasting (preferably modular) psu... Is the corsair silent ?

Sorry for the long post but any advice is welcome :)...

The Corsair would fit the bill, also look at the XFX range if you're wanting cheaper but still reliable, theyre rebranded Seasonics so no problems there

The issue is I'm already annoyed by a couple of spare molex plugs lying around:

ps. Yeah I know my pc is dusty, despite dust filters on the front, on the bottom, and my improvised dust filter on the side :(.

Cable management is hell already as it is, let alone with even more plugs.

Basically if I get the modular I'll get the 750, if the non modular I'll get the 850 ( which is still 20€ cheaper here than the 750 modular). But I'm leaning towards modular.
