Hi There

As the thread title says im looing for advice on a new PSU for system.
The main advice I need is what power rating would be best for this system

Q6600 overclocked to 3.3GHz
4GB RAM - DDR2-800
ASUS Nvidia 8800GT 512MB (G92)
120GB SATA Hard Drive
SATA DVD Re-writer (Samsung SH-S203B)
Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter
OcUK H²OC Watercooling Kit -With XSPC 200 Single Bay Pump & reservoir
2x 120mm case fans
1x 80mm case fan

current PSU is 500w (which I beleive is sub-par for this system.)

At the moment Im thinking either 650w to 700w PSU thats Modular and under £100, anyone got any ideas?

If you have a good 500W PSU it'll be fine, 620W+ is overkill for that system.

If you need a new PSU then get the Corsair HX520.

I find it's best to have slightly more power than too little. Then if you decide to add a new graphics card and a few more hard drives etc, you won't need to splash out on a new PSU also :)

You could still do all that on a quality 500W PSU e.g the Corsair HX 520, (with the exception of a 4870X2) ;)

Thanks fror the replys, I think i'll stick with current PSU and as its has plenty +12v power, the main reason i was thinking of upgrading was so I could get something with a modular cable system to tidy up my case a bit as I have a see-through side panel and currently it looks a bit messy.

I disagree. Googling it, it has the following specs:

+5V - 38A, +12V - 17A, -5V - 0.5A, -12V - 0.8A, +3.3V - 28A, +5VSB - 2A

17a on the 12v rail is not good and is less than recommended for the 8800gt from memory.

I'm surprised your system even works tbh.

And any 500w psu you can buy new for under £15 I would not trust with £100's of quality hardware.

If it blows, you might lose a lot of your system.

Have a look here at a roundup of "budget" psu's and what can go wrong with them:

I found that with my Tagan 480W it limited the stable overclock I could get with my q6600 when I added a blu ray writer to my watercooled system as per sig.

With your pump etc, I think you are running the psu to its limit. Personally I would get a Corsair ordered ASAP.
