What PSU for a 4850.

OCZ used a hiper in bro in laws pc and it died after about 18 months. fortunately it didnt take anything with it he is now on a corsair 520 HX like me.

I'd sooner go for the Corsair 450 at that price. I cant see how you would ever need 4 12V rails on a cheap psu? 1 for cpu, 1 for gfx card. A third will help with a 2nd gfx card if you want to risk it with a 500W. I suppose you could say the 4th would take the (slight) strain off the others from sata devices? Surely better to just have 1 big 12V rail?

The ocz isn't bad but if you can stretch a little bit more to the 600W, it is a better buy and will give you more growth.

Not that both psus do not have a MOV so it is very important to ensure your pc is plugged into a filtered socket (MOV's remove lethal spikes from the mains and most "quality" psus have them built in)

Antecs and coolermasters are pretty good and near your budget.

Corsairs are great but more money since modular.
