What's generally regarded as the current best PSUs to get for quietness and cost combined?
Wanting to power an X2 3800+ and an X1800GTO, plus the usual stuff :)
Would I be right in saying that the Tagan 430W modular would do the job and be nice and quiet? :)

Ok... so there's about 3 quid difference between the Tagan and the Seasonic... Which would be quieter? Which would you prefer? :) (I have a Tagan atm and quite like the modularity of it... but would ditch that if there's a noticable difference in the noise :D)

Seasonic would be quieter. although not by a massive amount. But because it isnt modular the rails will generally be more stable (less resistence).

can any one PSU handle an x1900xtx, athlon 64 4000+, and 12 hard drives?

i got a CM stacker, gonna upgrade my PSU, theres room for two, but i wouldnt mind buying a monster PSU now to keep me going for a while until i reach my goal of a full case :P

700w FSP Epsilon should just about if not there are 900/1100w Tagans and a 1000w PCP&C

will this 460w power a X1900XT as the manual mentions this cards only needs a 420watt PSU, I currently have a Fortron 400watt PSU, should i go for a upgrade?

I really like the enermax Liberty 550w, PSU but too costly!

Whoa  I'd go for 2 PSU's just to be on the safe side (& also because you can). Would one PSU even have enough molex/etc connectors for all the 12 drives - unless sharing?

Maybe go for these:
  • Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-007-TG) - for the extra disks/drives keeping inside nice & tidy
  • Tagan TG580-U22 580W ATX2.01 2Force SLi Compliant Silent PSU (CA-006-TG)
See here also :D
