What PSU...

Hi Guys

My trusty PC&Cooling 1kw psu is showing its age and is getting more and more noisy the more I use my computer. Also its becoming a pain to cable manage with the 20 odd cables that come off it. So im now in the market for a new PSU. Must be 1kw and must have modular cables.

Ive narrowed it down to:

1000W Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold

or the

Corsair HX 1000W

I recommend the Corsair, its just an animal.

Do you really need a 1Kw PSU, is it for the spec in your sig?

Given your PC&Cooling 1kw is getting on a bit it's safe to assume it's probably delivers around 70 A on the +12 V line.

Since current high end PSU deliver far more of their power on the +12 V you could consider getting a 850 - 900 W PSU, even then that seems way over what you'll need.

Antec High Current Gamer 900W Quad Rail Power Supply is a bargain at £116.99 (71 A on +12 V) As long as it has the connections you need.

You have to be running some serious machine to need more power.

Its is for this machine in the sig. I had a look and it appears the 850w version is great bang for buck with no loss of connectors:

Has a 7 Year Warranty also. Kicks out 70Amps.
