Hi guys,

So almost ready to build a small HTPC. using a phenom X3 and an Asus M4N68T-M, with atleast 2 HDD's a DVD drive and a Saphire low profile 5770

What PSU should I get for it?

Thanks!

Rob

I'm on a damned strict budget, Do you think a 250w will suffice, the setup will hardly be stressed at all, streaming to one source, Where can I get a be quiet SFX 300w? and how much?

I have dude =/ I've looked on the fleebay, the rainforest in africa, and various other sites, All I can find are CiT psu's that are rated very poorly by reviewers due to them being noisy, however at 20 quid they may not be too bad for the price, who knows.

I think I'll stick with the built in 250w in the case as £50 is abit out of budget, I was thinking more along the lines of 20-30.

Is it possible to damage components with too low a PSU?

Spending so little on a power supply... well i guess it's ok if the computer is worth little. But i would never do it mate

If it was for my i5 then £100 or more,

This is supposed to be a really low power build with little cost so it doesn't matter so much,

@chippy08 really? hmm.. i'll stick with the 250 it comes with and if it needs more i'll have to do some research or just get a case that fits ATX psu's

So managed to grab an old PC case from a friend and put it together inside that with an ATX 430Watt PSU as the M-ATX psu in the case from what I can see is only 110W which I don't think is enough to power that X3.

Is there any possible way to see what kind of power draw the system is using on windows at all? or is there no discernible way of telling?

Tried that, As accurate as it is. I thought there might be some sort of sensor or device that allows to you to tell the exact amount of power draw, but its cool, I'll get a 300W just to be safe =)

Haven't bought the case yet, Don't get paid till the end of the month, When I do i'll replace the case, if the PSU sucks I'll be replacing it with the Be Quiet 300W 80+ =)
