I did have a q6600 GO/SLACR which looks like its knackered as it reports silly temps and all i am doing is changing coolers and the temps are all stupid :(

I did lapp it so cant return it so was thinking as I have had my q6600 for a while is there an alternative quad chip that clocks better ??? or do i stick with another q6600?

I have the asus rampage and I like to get around 3.8ghz 24x7 and I do have water cooling

So what are my options ??? and value for money.

Well i have had this problem on my new board the asus rampage and I have had the same problem on the previous board the maximus and was convinced it was that board but to happen on 2 boards seems highly unlikely surely ??

as for temps well i have no way of monitoring it if they are off the chart so scared to overclock and this is on stock at moment.

So was jst going to get another one and hopefully that be the end of it and was wondering go for another q6600 GO/SLACR or any other chip to overclock ?

This is what I am getting on stock so its got to be stupid to attempt an over clock surey? I dont want to damage the board etc

I expected the temps to be higher than normal as this was with no paste as I was swapping coolers for testing.
Basic Intel HSF
---------------

Core 0 + 1 = 63c
Core 2 + 3 = 46c

Margin of 17c

Tuniq Tower
-------------

Core 0 + 1 = 114c
Core 2 = 116c
Core 3 = 122c

and after a min or two it shut off I think due to temps..........
