I am getting a new x2 3800 setup.Originally i was going to go for 2 gig of corsair, geil or ocuk value ram. But i would like to get 2.4+ out of my chip without ram being a limiting factor.

So without going up in price to much (i am prepared to spend £150 max on 2 gig) what should i get that will allow for 250mhz?

the Geil Value 2GB pack isn't very good because of the timings for AMD64's

it also doesn't clock very well.

a good 1GB set is more advisable

i Recomend:

GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Ultra-X nForce4 Special Edition CAS2
for only £100

that's what i'm thinking of replacing my current RAM with.
of course in the future u can get another set of this

I'm not an overclocker, but will be soon. But I can definitly tell you some very good advice.

Do not buy just 2 x 512mb ram, I was using this for the last 18 months upto february - if your playing relatively new games including online games you will need 2GB of ram no questions asked, I can say this because the performance in games going from 1gb to 2gb is very noticable.

G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 (2x1GB) CAS2 Dual Channel Kit (F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) (MY-007-GS) (£152.69 Including VAT at 17.5%)

I'm currently using the above ram which has timings of 2/3/2/5 I'm going dual core myself X2 4400 & will be using a divider to keep the fast timings as per the advice on a previous topic & its just about within your budget.
