Look at the following picture. It's taken of the inside of my uncles shabby old PC. It currently has 192mb RAM (which I personally find strange considering there's only one stick, unless some is being used elsewhere). Obviously it could do with some more and considering it'd cost little to nothing I said I'd source him some. However, I have no idea what to get considering it's so old. Anyone hazard a guess based on the picture?

Cheers!

Just to the right of the CPU cooler and below a capacitor there's what looks like a model number for the mobo: GA-8S??? If you can get that you should be able to google it and find out.

Or, I think certain RAM sellers have an auto detecter on their websites: you could try that and see what it says.

EDIT: I think I've found it. DDR 266 if that looks right.

Something like this (Can't see OCUK selling this RAM so don't think its a competitor, delete if it is though) would be ok then?

Looks like a packard bell?

DDR im guessing, run crucial scan to find what RAM it is and how much it can take.

It is packard bell yeh. Unfortunately i'm a 90 min drive away, I said i'd get him some RAM and bang it in next time i'm there :(

Packard Bell GA-8SIML looks like the writing on the mobo, from there I googled that & got another forum that said it should use DDR 266.
