what ram for old spec pc ?

just sorted out my pc. thanks for the help guys.
im unsure what ram my pc takes as atm its got the wrong ram in it.
its a gigabyte mobo with pentium 4 cpu.
ill update you on motherboard when i open the pc up

Won't know until we have the motherboard number, Pentium 4 covers 2 different sockets and could be DDR or DDR2.

Urm the mother board is a gigabyte GA-85Q800 ultra. do anyone know what ram it takes . it also has dual channel on side of motherboard. any idears. many thanks Loganz

From the model number I'm guessing it's a VIA chipset board, however I can't find anything about it on the official Gigabyte website, just found an old forum post elsewhere from someone who was building a PC using that board (in 2003 ).

To be fair you'd be much better off buying 2nd hand DDR RAM, the new stuff is quite overpriced these days at £32 per GB.
