Im going to get the E6600 and say for instance i will not be overclokcing it, what Memory would you suggest?

The 8000 or the 8500 and would you mind in linking me to the one you would go for, budget is £350.

Thanks

Ram i have heard highly rated:
CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-8000C4 1000MHz Dual Channel Kit
Team Xtreem 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-8000C5 1000MHz Dual

Also look good but i havent heard people raving:
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC8000C4 1000MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8000 Dual Channel Titanium Alpha XTC Series DDR2

In my opinion the CellShock 2GB PC2-8000C4 1000MHz 4-4-4-12 are probally the best sticks you can buy at £280 inc vat.

I was going to aquire the following ram - Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Tenth Anniversary, depends if you are prepared to pay an extra £80 compared to the Crucial ram as they will clock better.

It's really good value for what its capable of, if you read http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17662100 you will see it can clock very very well nearly on par with what I have bought.

A few minor reasons why I didnt was a) No proof of replacement sticks if they fail (limited edition). b) Better sticks available at a high premium if you want to pay the price - I woudnt pay anymore than that, I would have loved some Corsair 2GB Dominator 8888C4 4-4-4-12 but at £446 its just way too expensive for me. :(

If I had chosen a Intel Chipset mobo, I would have probally gone for the Crucial 10th Anniversary ram.

I see thanks.

Im probally going to get the ASUS Commando Intel 965 along with the E6600.

Just wanted to see if this Motherboard will take 8000 RAM, it saids up to 800mhz = 6400 but i do know of some motherboards that can take more than that via P5B Deluxe even though it saids MAX 6400?

Aye thats what really puzzles me, I dont think I've come across motherboards that cant handle the higher specced ram, would love to know why they only state upto 800mhz / 6400 ram etc - maybe its what the mobo defaults to at auto settings? I'm not sure, hope someone can explain! lol :)

I only went for a Intel 775 mobo because the E6600/E6700/X6800 from all the info I've gathered & hundreds of overclocks I've seen on the net, they seem to clock better with the Intel 775 compared to the 965 - its debatable I suppose. On the other hand the E6300/E6400 seem to clock much better on the Intel 965. The ASUS Commando Intel 965 looks a good board though from what I've read on a few reviews.

Yes please could someone help me lol :)

And yes E6300 and E6400 are better for the 965p boards and E6600 and above are better for 975x Boards.

But the reason why i chose a 965p Motherboard becuase i could not find a 975x Chipset that suits my needs.

TBH i dont think i will see a significant speed increase or whatever with the 975x boards over the 965p.

Ive also heard quite a lot of good things about E6600 on 965p Boards :)

We are all Happy. :)
