i think im about to order an FX6300 and an Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 and ive not looked at RAM i tihkn i might go with just 4gb to start possibly rather than 8 but really what i dont know is speed.

i expect i will overclock a bit but nothing extreem. so what RAM to go for and is it worth getting faster stuff for a little bit more cash?

are the slightly lower latencies actually worth it?

really i think my main concern was if going for 1600mhz ram would hold back any overclocking that might take place. i cant see that the corsair is worth almost £20 than the elite black stuff or am i missing something there?

The corsair Vengeance Pro are good at overclocking so if you had any worries these could easily overclock to 1866, also corsair have really good build quality and reliability. For gaming low latencies are fine (you could game on 1333 and there would be no difference between 1600) but If you are dong allot of compression and stuff faster RAM is worth it.

oh, i dont do it often but everynow and then ill do a batch re convert of about 60GB at a time of music for my DAP. so for that it would make a big diff so better to go with the 2400mhz stuff?

Yes, Its only worth it if you are compressing everyday but at the price of the ones you found id go with it. Just wondering have you checked that the motherboard supports those speeds, because if it doesn't it may downgrade the speeds.

the mobo going to get supports 2133, thats partly why a thought if ocing the fsb that headroom wiould be usefull.

lol but its been a loooong time since ive oc'ed anything
