What replacement can I expect.

And also, OcUK could talk to the insurance company and tell them what the nearest like-for-like replacement would be? It's worth a go, anyway.
Any ideas on what would be like for like?
I know most of my components are pretty old and not worth much but I insured it to the value of what I paid originally. The PC back then was pretty top notch with a few coins left out of a grand and that was building it myself.

Black one m8, very good case too, I just put 2 extra 120mm fans in the side window to help it along.
Yeah, very good case - i have the silver one, but might fancy a change. If you have that case spare, after all this is over, could you bear me in mind :) (if they gave it you back), and you decided what you wanted for it.

thanks
joe

Chances are I would not get anything back if they decided to replace, but if I did get it back I am sure I would re-use it, never had any problems with it and it is/was a very good ventilated case.:)

Ok insurance have been in touch, they are going to replace new for old on a like for like basis. So tomorrow they will be phoning me to let me know what I think of what they are offering 1st.
Can't remember what the company are called but the replacement won't be from the likes of PC world/Comet etc as it was custom built in the 1st place, so then I found the perfect opportunity to bring OCUK in, I said all the original parts were from OCUK, have you dealt with them before, and she said yes :) So depending on what they are offering I will see if I can go down that route.
Also I called the engineers that tested my old PC to ask about my hard drive as I don't want any of my emails etc ending up on some dodgy guys PC, they will put it in to a 'caddy' and I can use it in my new pc via usb as a storage also, cool.
Will update when I got more info :)

They have offered me this guys, what do you think......

I think they will send me a cheque so I could get the stuff from OCUK so basically what could I get for £755inc delivery.

If they send you the money you need to decided do you need all the things they offered you, like blu-ray drive, sound card. Do you want SLI again or do you want a more powerful single card? Cos may you can get better parts but without a couple they offered you like a quad core CPU etc

Seems a nice little upgrade really. I would find out what PSU it is first though, dont want them whacking some budget brand liability in there.

Well I have accepted, and it looks like they will send the cheque in the next few days :)
Bit better than what I had for sure.

Would it be worth getting the Phenom 965 over the 955?
Unfortunately the insurance company went with a spec quote from a rival online PC company to get close to my previous spec, but adjusting the components I came out with this...

Can this be achieved on OCUK even cheaper?

Can this be achieved on OCUK even cheaper?

you could just add up the components and find out...

...but no need. I've done it for you.

Better hard drive and probably better PSU. And the fact that you're ordering from ocuk which should give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

Fair bit cheaper too.

I claimed on my insurance a few years ago for computer (i'd fried the mobo doing experiments). I told the insurers i'd dropped it down the stairs when moving it. They said they needed to get their chosen company to take it away and do repairs. i was fully expecting a new mobo, but was pleasantly suprised to find a brand new gfx processor mem sound card case. The cheeky gits must be making a small fortune off of exagerting damage!

i claimed for 2 gtx 280's. which I had bought for 450-500 and damaged during watercooling them, luckily i had anticipated this and got accidental spillage coverage. Since when i claimed tehy ahd been replaced by the 285's and the 295s were out, I asked If i could have a check for £800 as then I could buy two cards of equal/better performance, and its less than the original claim was for, which they were more than happy to give me. Then after I got the check i went, hang on, why didnt i get the full amount anyway, and then buy the 295's for £400 each, then itd covered the waterblocks as well....stupid brain getting excited.

They did take teh cards away for testing, but I had obv tested a lot before, and as such they were dead :)
