As per title what resolution do you game at and why?

I’m currently debating on whether to stick to 4K or go to 1440p high refresh rate (will get a new graphics card later in the year). However, I mostly play single player games so not that bothered about high refresh rate. That said my current PC can only do 30 to 40 FPS at 4K.

How about you?

1440p vsync on. I'm still rocking out on my GTX 980 as I can't afford an upgrade. It works well unless I want to play newer games (which isn't very often). My monitor is getting a little old now and showing signs of it probably needing to be replaced. When the time comes, I'm tempted to go back to 1080p as my card can handle 1080p much better than it can 1440p.

I play 3440x1440p @ 50-70fps.

Framerate for me is generally not too much of a sticking point, as the games I play tend to not be adversly effected by poorer fps

Dell 27" 1440P 144hz Gsync. I wanted a higher res than the 1920x1200 60hz screen that I had and thought that 1440p was a good balance between 1080p and 4k. If I wanted to go 4k I would always need to pay through the nose for a high end graphics card but with 1440p I can stick with my below £400 graphics card limit and the screen still looks great. If I had to make the same choice now it would still be a 1440p 144hz screen but one of the Freesync/Gsync ones so I would not be tied to a single GPU manufacturer.

I mostly play on a 34" monitor at 3440x1440 with an average fps around 40-60 in most games.
I'm not too bothered about getting a high fps and am fine with the occasional dip into the mid 20's as I don't care about competitive online gaming.

4K when I can because that's what my TV is. I'm quite glad that newer games are coming with in-game resolution scalers so I can at least set the HUD to 4K and then generally lower the res to 1440p for more frames.

1080P 120hz laptop

Suits me perfectly for the games I play (CSGO, Warzone, Siege). I'll probably build a decent desktop PC for when Cyberpunk is released.

@pastymuncher - your set up is what I’m inclined towards.

@RandomJozza - do you two PCs or just move your PC? It’s an interesting idea.

@mrbell1984 - sorry for excluding you :D

Interesting that a few people are not too bothered about high FPS. I haven’t experienced high FPS so don’t miss it / notice the difference.

Same with me, until TVs are cheap with 120Hz as standard I doubt I'll experience it. There's no way I can play on a display <40/50 inches now. That's the trade off I make. Size instead of frames.

Only 16:9 resolutions listed? I run 3440x1440p ultrawide 100Hz. The only time I’d ever go back to 16:9 is for OLED but given they’re horrendously expensive and very rare, I can’t see that happening for many years.

1440p/60 - 1440 because 1080 just looks bad on larger screens and 60 because I'd rather use what GPU grunt I have left turning up eye candy than chasing frames. I'd love to have both but I don't have the budget.

Ideally needs to be 144htz & 1440p for me. I'm happy with either 16.9 or 21.9 (own both)
4k is still a way off until a £400 gpu can do 144htz easily at UHD.

1440p @120hz on LG OLED 55" with 1070ti

Looking to upgrade GPU eventually to take advantage of the G-Sync with the 2.1 HDMI ports

Couldn't find the right option to vote for:

3440x1440 at 120hz freesync

Because that's the native resolution and max refresh rate of my 21:9 monitor.
