what resolution should i game at?

my monitor is 1680 by 1050 so i know that this is the best to use, the reason im asking tho is that with games like crysis i notice a lot of slowdown at that res, what would be a good lower resolution to use? im guessing some will look better than others when scaled up to my native res

Well since you have a widescreen monitor it would be good to keep to the same aspect ratio like 1440x900 etc.

Or get a more powerful graphics card so you can enjoy your 1680 res properly.

Ohh and Crysis is known to run slow on most pc's and if thats the only game that doesn't run smooth in 1680 I wouldn't worry to much about it.

My pc runs COD4 fine at 1920 x 1200. Settings aren't maxed out, but frame rate is great and it looks beautiful.

On my old monitor it wouldn't even run Crysis well at 1280 x 1024. Settings were medium/low and the framerate went to **** any time there were multiple enemies or explosions on the screen.

Really, Crysis shouldn't be used as a benchmark to anything as it isn't useful in the real world.
