Not asking "is this a scam". Just interested in the scam.

Person messages me asking about expensive item.

They ask where it is (this is listed on item.)
They have a lads profile pic but end messages with an X
Even after this.. I'm like.. Yeah I know this is a scam.

They offer to pay by BT or PayPal (obviously PayPal is a scam)
And a "friend" comes to collect.

I was tempted to see what would happen but couldn't be bothered.

Is it one of those they send a screenshot showing they've paid?
Or would it be a fraudulent/hacked account and bank reverses it?

the guy comes to collect, the person claims [payment was already sent but it wasn't.

they hope your a push over and just hand the item over ,maybe becoming increasingly aggressive trying to wear you down
???
This is what I suspected. Use tactics like "I've paid" and hope I'm a noob/weak of mind.

If the use the pattern you've written, they are always a scammer.

No. 1. everyone bargains on marketplace unless your item is ridiculously low price.

No. 2. they'll probably have some obscure payment method for you to deal with.

No. 3. they'll always say that someone else will collect it, and then ask where it's located. You can see where it's located from Facebook so that question is very revealing.

I tell them to **** off and block them.

That's how I knew immediately.
They asked where it is even though it tells you.

Once I said "cash only" they haven't replied unfortunately.

And yes. Also they didn't barter. It's overpriced on there on purpose to bait scammers. Same as I do on ebay.

A lot of people are greedy too. See it a fair few times in a few groups I'm in.
The seller (scammer) is selling something that's obviously too cheap. Like 1/2 Rrp.

And some twonk buys it.

I have sympathy for the vulnerable. But not the greedy.
