I use mission speakers and a velodyne sub cost £400 second hand but look on the bay.
I wouldnt bother going 7.1 if your rooms small/medium size 5.1 is more than fine.
How much do you want to spend?

not sure how much yet around £300 i have a denon amp so thats taken care of , but i really like how small the bose cube speakers are! but if i were to get 4 of them and the small centre speaker , could i use any subwoofer , or does it have to be a bose one to?

Cheers , are the Bose jewel cube speakers any use?

No

Get 3 pairs of JBL control ones from RS for £150- (use all 6 in a 6.1 setup, no difference between that & 7.1 as the centre back channel speakers are mono)

Then get a Minotaur sub for another £150- (google it)

cheers m8 so are they good speakers? and thanks for all the advice , i take it there better than the acustic solutions speakers and amp i had? :)

They're good little speakers for the price, JBL have been making them for a long time now. & yep -They'll beat those Carppy AS speakers hands down.
