What shooting modes do you normally use?

Basically iv had my first Dslr for getting on 2 years now and after reading the book understanding exposure last week I understand how the metering in the camera works and don't really see the need to shoot in any of the other shooting modes apart from saving time adjusting the settings.

When I first got the camera I shot in full auto for a month or 2 but since then iv pretty much always used Aperture priority mode.

Although I'm sure most of you know how to shoot full manual do you still use one of the more semi-manual modes anyway?

This last month i've started to try and use only manual mode. My photos are a bit hit and miss but i feel im learning more using manual. I do sometimes use one of the pre set modes if i don't have the time to set up for the shot.

Everyday stuff - Aperture priority

Landscape - manual

Automotive - manual

Motorsport - Shutter priority

Anything else - usually AP again

I use Aperture Priority mode all the time at the moment. I hope to be going on a photography course or two over the next few months so I will hopefully have the knowledge and skill to start using Manual mode as well.

I use Aperture Priority about 95% of the time (Manual mode for the other 5%) but now that i've finally got myself a flashgun and a wireless trigger i reckon Manual mode will be used a little bit more.

Manual in the studio.
Shutter priority for track stuff.
Aperture priority for normal day to day stuff.
Full Auto when it's in my bag for those surprise moments.

Aperture priority mostly.

Shutter speed when im trying to get aircraft so i can get prop blur, or moving cars, had no oppurtunity for either really.

Manual at night when the camera thinks it needs 12500 iso to get 1/125th shutter!

Manual pretty much all the time, sometimes custom functions if I'm constantly changing between a few modes at an event.

Mixture!

90% is probably AP which works fine for most of what I shoot with the occasional bit of exposure compensation.

the rest is split bettween manual, which is pretty much all flash work and the occasional shutter priority shot when I decide to capture some motion.

What I need at the time? It seems a slightly contrived question...the different settings exist for a reason, not so you can choose a favourite. Shoot manual when you can, if you can't afford the time and need to control Aperture (wildlife is a good example for me) then shoot Av, if you can't afford the time and need to control shutter speed (low light when I want to hold the shutter speed high enough not to blur for me) then Tv.

More complex if you enable auto ISO, though I don't know anybody who does (I mean - why would you??)
