Hi All

I'm looking to get a laptop for my g/f - mainly to be used for office type work, surfing, wireless cabaple, etc. It doesn't need lots of space or a long battery life - a nice size screen would be preferable.

Could I get:
~1.6Ghz C2D
2GB RAM
120GB HD
16"/17" screen

Thanks

Take a look at the Toshiba's, they have quite a nice range and im sure the specs for £600 would be as good or better then what you want.

The Satellite P200's are big and ideal for a desktop replacement, and come with a 17" screen. Can be had for £550 or above.

Seen a quite nice sony vaio in a well known high street shop for £500 yesterday. 1.5GHz C2D, 2GB RAM and about a 160GB HDD. On board graphics. Screen on it was lovely, aboult a 15" i think.

I just got a dell vostro 1500 for £615

T7250 (2GHZ)
3GB ram
256mb 8600m
160GB HD
15.4 with 1440x900

Took me forever to find a laptop with the spec I wanted for a good price, the choice is crazy. :p

My preferred laptop brands are, in order:
- Toshiba, quality machines, good support
- Samsung, haven't owned one buy Samsung products generally good, not sure about support
- Dell for value for money, support can be variable

I hope that helps.

I'm not that keen on Sony Vaio's, mainly because of the software that Sony insists on adding to the machine. Not so long ago Sony included some spyware-like software (root kit?) on its machines and damaged its reputation.

Just got mine the other day.

HP Pavilion DV2630EA.

14.4" Screen
1.5GHz Core2Duo
2GB RAM
Nvidia 8400M GS

Digital TV tuner
Bluetooth
Webcam

Got it new for £650, but it can be had as a refurbished unit for £570 on a well known retailers website.
