What should I be considering...

Ok - so, I'm working out a new mega cheap build.
I'm buying 2nd hand components, to make my money go further - but I'm also being choosy about what I get.

So far, I've gotten a PSU from a fellow uk overclocker who listed in local classifieds, and though it's probably wildly overpowered for what I have in mind, it seemed a good deal to me, and gives me scope to keep the PSU around for a while.

Anyway - my build needs a case.

The machine will be for audio primarily, so I'm not mega interested in in huge graphics cards, but I do have an old, but good sound card, that is quite big that needs housed in the thing.

So - I have been looking at Fractal Design R4 - but I'm wondering what else I should be considering - I've really out the loop, so not sure what else is out there.

I nearly acquired an Obsidian 650d - but between that and the R4 (or an R3 which was also listed locally that looked interested), I'm not sure what I should be looking at.

I don't want something that looks mega cheap - or feels cheap.
But I also don't want to be spending the full retail (unless I can get a good deal).

The Obsidian retails at circa £130 - but getting one 2nd hand for say £60, maybe makes it doable.

But that also puts it in the area of a new R4 as now and again, Amazon have had these down to £60.

But, like I said, I'm not sure what else is out there at this kind of money, 2nd hand.

I don't want a mini case - or anything like that.
I want something of the R4/650d kind of size as I want it to run cool and quiet.
I do plan to overclock as well - so want something that ticks the boxes for these things...

Any ideas?

R4 is great, maybe look at the 450D. Also the 540 Air. The R4 is probably your best bet @ £60, or the BitFenix Ronin which is another great case

Just a short note to say I ended up getting an

A 2nd hand R3!!!

And at this stage I'd just like to flag up how AWESOME Fractal Design have been.

I emailed them about where I can get some spare parts (eg fan filters), as they didn't have them listed on their online spare shop.

So they sent me some spares out - gratis!!!!

Fantastic customer service.
Maybe a wee bit slow in replying - ie at least 24hrs in responding to any emails - but as far as taking care of users of Fractal kit?

FANTASTIC.

10/10 Fractal design.

All I need to do now is somehow remove the lingering smell of cigarette smoke from the case...

Well, the R3 I got has 4 fans - 2 stock and 2 Arctic F12.
I've also bought a 140mm Noctua to put in it too.
The f12 though seem quite noisy.
Not quite sure yet what I'm going to do with the fans yet.
In time I'll end up ditching the F12 I think - I like the idea of having a really quiet system...
