on 3dmark06 with...

An evga 780i board
2 x ocuk 8800GTX in sli
4 gig ram, OCZ reaper 1066 at just shy of 1000mhz
Q6600 @ 3.0ghz
?????????? sure its not hitting good figures on 06 ?

is it worth playing with extra ram and of course cramming an extra gtx in what little space is left ?

used to hit 18800 on 06 and my score has dropped to 15k ??????? previous score was achieved on a striker extreme, 4g OCZ sli ram @ 1000mhz and the Q6600 @ 3.0ghz (board got fried thats why Its changed)

I dont understand why or how its dropped 4k ?


oh and is it worth pushing my ouk gtx's to XFX specs, I guess thats not much of a challenge for them or the cooolers ?????????????/

No all I care about is beating my friends in friendly competition! and making sure my system is running correctly for the money i have spent on it! if that make me an idiot then fair enough! plus I dont know much about pc's so 3dmark06 is all I got to base performance on! thats why i'm here to learn and find stuff out!

plus if you had read the other post by me you'd understand all the trouble i've had with my system lately,

so I take it back! and i'll even say sorry to bitter star for saying it! shouldnt have got angry! my fault.

forget the thread! I just thought i'd lost 4k on 3d mark and wondered where it could have gone! considering ram and board were upgraded!

So, yeah I'm sorry. You've just said that 3dmark06 is all you've got to base performance on, so fair enough. What I'd say though, is if your system runs the games you play just fine, then what's the point in spending money on a third graphics card? Rather than basing purchases on 3dmark06, base them on how well your computer handles the games you play.

But yeah, I see why you'd want a better computer than your mates, cos that's also something I consider when buying components. I wanna beat them, which my current system does :) (maybe not for long though lol)

Thank you bitterstar! i just said soz to above!

Fronlines runs on med and freezez every other second on anything higher, crysis will not run well at 1920 x 1200 on high, unless i drop to 1280 x etc it burs to much even with the patch!
thats why Im thinking of 3rd GTX as this system is a ocuk overclocked system and so I will not be messing with the settings due to warranty (which I have needed big time lol )

BF2 is perfect as it should be, and cod 4 is perfect!
 
It'd be nice to get it more clocked, but as I said that would upset warranty so I cant for a while! :-(

CPU temps are at 45-50 at the mo! (been a hot day to which I guess isnt helping)
cooler is a arctic freezer pro 7

I used intel thermal analysis tool from the overclocking sticky
