What should I do this summer?

Buy one off those all over Europe train tickets, get onto the continent somehow, see where you end up :)

+1

I did this after uni, 6 weeks, 14 countries 20 cities £1,500 ish. Best think I ever did.

£400 30 Inter-Rail ticket. (Most likely to buy in Euro's and make a small win on the currency exchange rate)

I did the following countries with around 2/3 days in each. Travel by night trains so you don't waste time in the day and cuts down on hostel costs. Also you meet some amazing people from different countries (Still friends with 2 or 3 of them)

Rule of thumb further East and South, the cheaper it gets!

France
Belgium
Holland
Germany
Czech Rep
Austria
Croatia
Slovenia
Bosnia & Herz
Serbia
Hungary
Poland
Sweden
Norway

I have a full time job now but have 2 weeks off in July so hopefully do a bit more as I did last year, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine etc

DO IT.....

Yeah travel mate. That's the best thing you can do when you have that sort of time. Europe, or somewhere in asia, like indonesia ? It's wonderful there and you can live very cheaply

As you work on a farm I assume you aren't worried about a bit of labouring and the outdoors so look up trail maintenance in America.

Free accommodation and food when you get there, loads of similar aged people and some great fun in stunning surroundings.

http://www.appalachiantrail.org/get-involved/volunteer are one but Pacific crest has one as well.

I went to Maine in 2010 (http://www.matc.org/) for 5 weeks, spent four weeks in Maine and the beginning and end of my trip in Boston. We spent the weekends when not in the mountains in the local lake, white water rafting, climbing and paint balling. Cost me £1000 including the £600 for flights.

It sounds perfect for you and something you're unlikely to be able to do again (can go to the european cities any time you want (long weekends away while working).:p

Hitch down to the Greek islands. Should make for a very interesting trip.

Did it with my first paycheck and two friends. Much cheaper back then, lovely simple people the Greeks, and tooooo many nothern Swedish beauties for some reason I never understood. Things have changed now but still the best summer destination.
