Basically my next pc upgrade will be the graphics card, my budget is £400-£450. Its gonna have to be last me as long as possible, as next year will be an extremely expensive year....new bike and maybe going to thailand.
Anyway my current card is playing all my games brilliantly, all settings on max and no slowdowns in my games whatsoever. I have a BFG 280GTX OCX, and couldnt fault it.
Heres my choices as what i could get or do:

1) Buy GeForce GTX 295
2) Buy Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X
3) Wait till Nvidia release there new cards aslong as its out in about jan/feb time, and see if there any good.

Heres whats in my spec:

e6850
4gb memory
asus p5q pro
bfg 280gtx ocx
128gb SSD
2x 500gb samsung hard drives
windows 7 64 bit
audigy sound card (forget its proper name)

Choose Number 3 if your current card is playing all your games on max setting with no slow down whatsoever ...

I knew that was the right answer, im just getting itchy fingers thats all:p
There just doesnt seem to be anything worth me upgrading, damn my machine:mad:

Im dl vantage to see what score ill get then ill post the results, i dont think ive done it since a couple upgrades ago, what score should i be getting?

Am in the same boat..My SLI 8800gtx setup plays everything fine as well...But am bored with them and i want a brandnew shinely GPU card to play with :(

Or sell your 280 for about £120 and buy a standard Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 for £313

That would then only cost you about £193

The Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X is stupidly over priced for just having a different cooler fitted...

Im not really bothered about the price, all i want is a single graphics card thats got brilliant performance that will let me play games at max settings (like the one i got now :p ) for as long as possible.

I was looking at the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X not only has it got a different cooler but its a bit faster, which i suppose every little helps if im after a card that'll last me for as long as possible, or until it stops playing games at max settings.

With a £450 budget I'd at least wait for the 5870x2 if I were you. That thing is going to eat games for breakfast and isn't far off being released now afaik.

Really, thats gonna be awesome, i can wait, now ive got 2 choices:
1) wait for 5870x2
2) wait for nvidias cards

If anyone knows can i have a rough estimation on when there out?

Why would you upgrade something that works fine?

I would wait for the 5890 (5870x2)

Billy my reasons are.......
i got the upgrade bug
direct x 11
i wont be upgrading my pc next year due to expensive ventures......
I need my pc to last as long as possible, maybe even into 2011 before i can think about buying some more stuff for my pc, and by then ill end up having to get myself a whole new setup.

Ben so the 5870x2 is gonna be called the 5890, will this be released before the end of the year, and how much do you think it will be?

You could upgrade to an i7 system instead for £450 and stick with everything else which is pretty awesome anyway !

Intel Core i7 920 - £200
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R - £140
Kingston HyperX 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 - £100

Happy Days :D

not really a performance difference, i might be wrong but i think my system is better than that anyway. Im making that opinion on games performances, as thats what my pc is basically for.

no one knows how good the next gen nvidia cards will be ..... they might not be as good , or might be equal to ati`s i and very worried that say ati has as good 3 or 4 month ahead of nvidia and all that sales , what has nvidia said to counter all the ati plub.? nothing nada zip , nvidia is normally good at pr spin , but why no news say our next cards will blow ati out of the water etc etc ?
