What Should I Do?

Few months ago, I've built a gaming PC, the specs are,

Intel i5 3570K
Gigabyte Z77 D3H
MSi 1GB HD 7850
8GB Corsair Vengeance

But now I don't use the computer for gaming, I only use it for surfing the internet, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and watch TV dramas, should I sell my current computer and build a new one?

No point selling it you could just sell the CPU/GPU and downgrade but I don't see a reason to unless you need the money

I'd stick with what you've got to be honest. Even though it's overkill at the moment, with your usage that rig will probably last you ten years before it starts feeling slow.

I don't use it for gaming then it will be a waste of not using all the features and performance so I was thinking of selling it and build one which suits what I'm doing, surfing the internet, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and watch TV dramas,

My current gaming PC specs & components are,

Intel i5 3570K OCed to 4.5GHz
Gigabyte Z77 D3H
MSi 1GB HD 7850
8GB Corsair Vengeance
550W OCZ PSU
Alpenföhn Matterhorn CPU Cooler
1TB HDD 7200RPM
2 x Corsair SP120
4 x Corsair AF120
Bitfenix Recon Fan Controller
Zalman Z9 Case

Well, would it be more of a waste to sell your stuff to buy a downgrade. Do an estimate. See how much you can expect from each components you are willing to sell, and how much switching components will cost you.

TBH, you won't get much back from selling the 7850 1GB. Maybe enough for a SSD.

I've calculated the costs of all components, it's around £650

If I was going to sell it and build a new computer which I'll use it for surfing the internet, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and watch TV dramas, will Intel or AMD be more suitable?

For light use like that it doesn't really matter. The integrated graphics with either an i3 or trinity setup will be fine.

I still think you'd be better keeping what you've got. Selling second hand to buy new is always going to cost you in the long run.

1) If you re-build from scratch, it will cost you around £400. Selling your rig, you'd get between £0 to £50(?) return with that.

2) Selling your GPU, processor+cooler, maybe also your fan and controller that wont be of any use, then getting a i3. Net benefit, hmm about £130-£170? A SSD is a nice addition to a home desktop. Result, you're probably around the same ballpark, so you get a SSD 128GB for free instead of the first option.

Dunno, my maths maybe way off.

Maybe you want to rebuild a more compact computer, m-itx, with a nice small case. First, I'd see if there are any interest in your rig and how much you can get for it, and if it covers a full m-itx rebuild with some decent components. So yeah actually, what Snips says. It's more risky, so make sure you have your bases covered.

If I say my budget is £400 max for either a Intel or AMD with an 1TB HDD and SSD, will it fit into the budget?

I do like mITX cases build but I've a computer desk which will only look good if I use a ATX case

Yes should be able to do a decent trinity build around that, especially as you can carry across the RAM, HDD, PSU, and case. Someone will probably spec you shortly.

Still no idea why you want to do this especially if you want to stick with an ATX case. The total spend for sticking with what you have is £0 :p

I know you don't want to hear this, but just keep it

I'll have a look at what I can get for £400 max, but if not then I'll keep my current rig and maybe sell the HD 7850 graphics card, will the onboard graphics be good enough?

If I sell the HD 7850, then I'm planning on getting a SSD
