what should i get??????

Depends on your budget really and what hardware you are going to match with it. I'd personally go for the AMD but we'd need to know more about your final setup.
 
I'm in quite a similar situation. I need a new CPU, mobo and RAM. Have a pretty low budget and am trying to work out if the 1055T will be both a good overclocker and will have a decent lifespan (2 years maybe?). Will probably upgrade CPU and all that jazz, then move onto a new GPU and some HDDs for a RAID system. Then start the upgrade process all over again :P
 
yeh. well this is what i was planning on getting you see:

Intel i5 750 or AMD Phenom II 1055t,
about a £90 Motherboard for the correct socket,
ATI Radeon 5770 Probably Either XFX or HIS or Sapphire HD
2GB 1600 Mhz Memory/ RAM,
Antec 300 Gaming Case
500-550w PSU, Probably "OCZ"
 
AMD 955, with a cheap am3 board and 4Gb mem, save the rest for the best gfx u can get - more than enough for gaming - later can upgrade to 1055T or higher.

for gaming gfx card is everything :>
