I have like 3 x 3TB external hard drives and a drobo with 4 hard drives in -2TB-4TB

Should I just buy a cheap PC/HTPC case that can hold lots of drives and install windows with some type of raid software?

Am just looking for something I can build cheap that kinda works like the drobo ie I can swap in and out drives and if a drive fails I can replace it and it would auto rebuild my data across the new drive.

Can you advise on what I should build and easy to sue software?

My storage is bluray movies and family camcorder footage

Just looking for all in one! rather than everything being all over the place and possibly loosing data as I am not using any type of raid on most of my drives

Thanks!

:)

Take a look at the HP Microserver thread in the enterprise forum. Basically just use an HP N54L micro server, drop up to 5 large drives in it, install Free NAS, Linux or Windows on it and you're good to go. I'm running the slightly older N40L with Ubuntu Server and it destroys my old NAS for performance.
