What should I replace first?

Later in the year Im thinking about upgrading to the newest iPhone or iPad. I currently have the iPhone 12 Pro and iPad pro 11", I use both equally, the battery life on the iPad is the worst I would say.

I think the iPhone will be ok for ios17 support, but the iPad not. Is that the case?

I wouldn't say I use the iPad Pro features much but I like the fact it has Face ID.

Do you think I would be best upgrading the iPad?

Is there any news of a new iPad Pro in 2023 or even a non pro version but with Face ID? I can't go back to finger print recognition now.

There likely won't be new iPad Pros coming in 2023, but a major upgrade and redesign is coming early next year, probably with OLED displays. We might see a spec-bump to the iPad Air later this year though, so that might be a good choice as well.

Thanks, will keep a look out then, the pro version isn't a must for me on the iPad, its just that it had Face ID, hopefully the Air and other versions eventually get Face ID as standard.

Do you do anything strenuous on the ipad? If not I would say upgrade the phone as you will notice a difference with the camera. If you only use ipad for browsing and streaming you probably won't notice any difference.

From what I have read in the info Apple have put out regarding iOS17, all iPad Pro's apart from the very 1st Generation will run it. iPhone 11 series are on the list but doubt they will be for iOS18 (next year) as that is the oldest generation phone listed.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro and as soon as the 15 comes out, I'll be getting it. The iPad can wait, I only use it to browse the web, nothing intensive.

Yeah actually that makes sense really, I only use the iPad for basic stuff, so I will leave that until I really need a new one, actually the battery life on it has been ok this past week.

I use my iPhone for a lot more things.

X(S) are the earliest supported models. The 11's might be the earliest series eligible for iOS 18 next year.

Your iPad Pro 11 should be fine and there’s talk next year of both sizes of iPad Pro having an OLED screen which is what I’m waiting for and to see what happens so my advice would be the phone.

I must have missed the X when I glanced through the list so if it is, then my bad. I was really just looking at the actual numbers when making the post. If the 11 series do get iOS18 next year, it will at least mean the Mrs has to wait for another upgrade until it can't run the current iOS anymore or either of our phones dies.
