As the title says, what should I upgrade in my computer to get a massive fps boost when gaming?

I’m playing a lot of Rainbow Six Siege lately and my FPS was dropping to 30FPS so I dropped all my settings to low and got it to hit 50-60 FPS, looking for advice on what to upgrade on my PC to get more FPS.

My hardware/gaming-rig:

Processor: Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-6700k (4.0GHz) 8MB Cache

Memory RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000MHz X.M.P (2 x 8GB)

Graphics Card: 6GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 980 Ti

Hard drive: 2TB SATA-III 64MB CACHE

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII ranger: RoG, PCI-e 3.0, SATA 3.0, LG1151

Thanks in advance!

You have a fast PC still, I wouldn't upgrade anything unnecessarily. It sounds like you have another issue causing problems, not under-powered hardware.

Which PSU do you have?

Thanks for the reply, My PSU is a CORSAIR 1000W RM SERIES TM MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD ULTRA QUIET

I have ensured my drivers are all up to date etc

Not sure what else it could be :-(

What monitor and resolution are you gaming at?

What you have will be great at 1080p but will start to struggle with anything above that at high settings.

Your best bet in any case would be a gpu, what's your budget?

Rule out your OS/Rogue software first, since your machine is really well specified for 1080p (some 1440p with reduced settings).

I'd grab a secondary SSD/Hard drive, and disconnect your current ones, install Windows 10 + updates if needed, and put the latest graphics drivers on, and the game you are having difficulties with. Once you've got a base line clean install, and some numbers it will help you see if the problem lies in your current software build, and if so you can go from there. If it's still throwing up low numbers, then you can experiment with drivers, or start to narrow down if it is a hardware issue.

I think there are some odd fps issues with this game. I have heard a number of people who developed low FPS for no particular reason. I wouldn't get too stressed or buy any hardware.
There seem to be a number of different fixes around. One likely one is the Phsyx processing. This seems to default to CPU when in fact it should be set to GPU. I think there is an in-game setting but if you can't find that then if you go in to the NVIDIA control panel, under 3D Settings, you will see Configure Surround, Physx. Select that option and you see Physx Settings. Set it to "GPU". That will set it to GPU for everything. Which really isn't a bad idea anyway.
But there are other issues with that game..
If all else fails then you could go out and buy a 1080ti - it's a kinda brute force way of fixing the problem!! Well, not really fixing it, rather just battering it to death with a stick. It will be still there, just a defeated, blobby, sticky pile of irrelevant ook.
