What should I upgrade?

I don't wanna spend too much, the only games I play on my PC are WOW and Minecraft but I often get frame rate drops and it's started to annoy me.

My current specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.1ghz
3GB RAM
GeForce GT 220

My budget is £100 but would prefer less if possible. :)

I don't expect to run them on max settings but I'd like to be able to at least run them on low-medium and have a steady framerate.

Someone recommended a "msi r6670", is that any good?

Open the side panel of the case and there should be a sticker on it, manufacturer and model number?

Do you know what motherboard you have also?

To be honest...if I was in OP's shoes, I'd look at 2nd hand and B grade like this:
2nd hand 8800GT/9800GT £20-£25
B-grade Gigabyte H61M-USB3: £32

Pentium G840 £57:

8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 memory: around £28

Total= £137-£142 (plus delivery).

Yes it would be overbudget, but without upgrading both CPU and graphic and upgrading it's difficult to get acceptable frame rate (the current CPU would most likely only do around 15-30fps in the more recent demanding games regardless of what graphic card is use with it).

If the OP has no intention of upgrading the monitor just yet, a 8800GT/9800GT is plenty for 1440x900 even for the more recent games, so long as he doesn't mind dropping some graphic details...may be to medium/high rather than ultra.

But if the OP need to upgrade PSU as well, then it would be overbudgeted by even further. But best bet is to get a 8800GT/9800GT first (provide his PSU is ok) and goes from there. Could always sell it off again for simliar price.

It will be awful, I don't think there's really much point checking tbh :P I remember getting my GT 220 and having to find a card that didn't need a power cable cause my PSU is terrible

And Marine I'd take your advice..except my case is a micro-atx (I think that's what they're called) so I'd prob need a new case as well

Heck I'll just wait til payday and get a new computer I reckon... any tips? My budget is probably £400-£500. Rather not get another pre-built from PC world if possible haha

** I don't need a Hard drive, monitor or DVD drive btw **

Well I just found out my budget this month is going to be a lot less than expected so I'll hold off on a new rig until I can afford it

For now though I'd still like to upgrade my graphics card if possible. I checked my PSU, its model is "FSP250-60HEN"

So any cards better than my current one "Geforce 220" that could act as a temporary solution until my finances are in better shape? Preferably <£50

Thanks

The Psu will be no good, it`s only 250w.
If i was you, i would save up a bit more. At least £400 and get the build that Stulid specced for you. Spending money on a temporary fix, is a waste.

Yeah maybe you're right. Next month then most likely :)

Random question: Would it be able to run Just Cause 2 and Skyrim reasonably well?
