Hey guys I'm planning on playing more games on pc so I need some upgrade advice

I'm currently packing:

Amd FX-4100
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
2x4gb ddr3 1333mhz ram
corsair cx600m psu
gtx 650ti 2gb
1tb hdd

Not sure whether to get a new gpu or start from scratch? I use my tv as a monitor at 1360x768. So its not high.
If I do start from scratch itll be miniitx.

I'd consider upgrading your TV. There are plenty of 1080p models for not a lot of money and a 650ti will still handle games as 1080p fine just not in max details.

If you are keeping your TV i'd go for upgrading the CPU, Mobo and consider getting and SSD for a boot drive.

Option 1:

YOUR BASKET
1 x VTX3D Radeon R9 290 V2 X-Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (VXR9 290 4GBD5-DHX) £299.99
Total : £309.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Option 2:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £189.95
1 x Gigabyte Z97N-WIFI Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £103.99
1 x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (SH103S3/120G) £67.99
Total : £371.53 (includes shipping : £8.00).

I know they are slightly over your budget, but depending on how far you can stretch, both would be a worthy upgrade. Which do you want more?? Performance or Graphical power?

Surprised this hasn't been said yet - try playing some games with what you've got. A 650 Ti is faster than the 560 Ti I'm using which happily plays games on medium at 1920x1200. You're at a lower res than that so should be plenty playable.

In any case though an SSD will make your life better.

Would it not be possible to drop an FX8320 into that board, surely there is no need to upgrade from 8GB of ram which the OP has, even if it is 1333 that won't make much difference esspecially at sub 1080p.

Then buy an SSD for booting/games and new graphics card like an R9 280x.

Most importantly I would be upgrading to a display which can output 1080p to make the most of it.
